Rhona's fan fiction draft

As cheesy as it sounds I have to say I totally agree with the statement, behind every great love is a great story.

Yes, for those of you who haven't yet figured it out I am an utter fan of puppylove movies. My fan-ficiton will be focused upon the award-winning film The Notebook directed by Nick Cassavetes., based upon the best-selling novel of the same name written by Nicholas Sparks.

"They didn't agree on much, infact they rarely agreed on everything. The fought all the time, and they challenged each other everyday, but despite their differences. They had one important thing in common they were crazy about each other".

The Notebook isn't like any ordinary romantic film, it conveys young love between two individuals from two different worlds, both socially and economically. The two protagonists of the film ,Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel Adams) demonstrate not only the power of their blissful summer love but also at the end of their dying days.

"Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They're shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they're gone".

The storyline is captivating as it reflects various themes such as forbidden love, Alzheimer disease and effects on loved ones, financial and social status, having to choose between soul-mate and class order and lastly love conquerors all.

Young Allie: "Why didn't you write me? Why? It wasn't over for me, I waited for you for seven years. But now it's too late."
Young Noah: "I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year."
Young Allie: "You wrote me?"
Young Noah: "Yes... it wasn't over, it still isn't over.

Poor Noah. She never knew he wrote every single day? Evil mother, EVIL!

Although Allie and Noah were faced with many roadblocks e.g. Allie's mother and Allie having moved on with the assumption that Noah had too due, without knowing that her mother had held onto all of Noah's love letters, and getting engaged Noah and Allie withstood it all, even with an amazing twist at the end. Allie having Alzheimer disease, causing her to forget her young love. The film opens with an elderly man (Noah) reading out of a notebook to an elderly woman (Allie) about a story between two young lovers. The two lovers become one again when they die holding hands lying next to one another. As beautiful as the story is I have decided I will make a slight change to one of the scenes so that the ending will be different with an even more heartwarming twist, having a crossover character just not sure who yet.

Brainstorming is still in progress and re-watching the film will be required.

  1. Great Fan fiction Rhona, I can see you've already got a solid foundation to work on. If your stuck with any ideas here's a suggestion I think you could try. Perhaps you could introduce a cross over character, say from another popular love story. The movie that comes to mind is, Tianic, you could introduce either Jack played by Leo DiCaprio or Rose plated by Kate Winslet. These are 2 strong characters that I think would give your FF an interesting storyline. I think it'll draw some interest from other readers.
    So what do you think?

    Cheers. Rose

  2. Hey Rose !
Thanks for the feedback, highly appreciated. I think your idea has saved my membrane a headache, I think Leonardo DiCaprio from Titanic would be a perfect crossover character as he is just as romantic as Noah lol This will create a very dramatic love triangle between Leonardo and the two protagonists of my storyline.

  3. Hey Rhona!
I love the notebook, and this sounds like a fantastic idea. I agree with Rose with that Dicaprio's character would be a good crossover character. However, I have a concern, the Notebook takes place in the 1940's and the Titanic in 1912, I look forward to seeing how you cope with and change the time differences :)
